Richard Wilson is a self-taught contemporary artist who began writing graffiti in 1984. After 23 years of creating none of his own artwork, Richard began to paint again and quickly found fascination in portraiture, more specifically painting faces using spray-paint. His first piece was completed in June 2016, which ended up as the cover of a Grammy-award nominated album. Greatly inspired by the Old Masters and Contemporary pieces he viewed daily while working at Bonham’s Auction House, art that tells a story and large-scale street art have become passions of Richards. In the past year Richard has begun oil-painting and has since focused mostly on canvas pieces as well as large-scale murals. He is currently working concurrently on commissioned pieces and exciting projects combing his passions in the music and art industry.
